POWER Project distributed 130 small livestock to Nyanza beneficiaries

Faith Victory Association (FVA) in partnership with Action Aid Rwanda (AAR) has through Promoting Opportunities for Women Empowerment and Rights (POWER) provided Nyanza women beneficiaries with 130 small animals.

These small animals include 76 pigs and 54 goats and were distributed to 130 women from Rwabicuma, Mukingo and Busasamana sectors of Nyanza district in Southern Province of Rwanda.

These small livestock will act as a source of income and fertilizers to the rural women which will lead to the increase of the women’s income consequently culminating into their wellbeing.

The distribution of these livestock happened on Monday April 24th, 2017 and it follows 64 cows distributed to Nyanza POWER beneficiaries in 2016.

POWER project aims at creating sustainable livelihood for rural women by increasing agricultural production through the practice of sustainable agriculture and promotion of women’s rights by tackling Unpaid Care Work (UCW).

POWER Project is being implemented in five districts of the country. FVA is implementing the said project in three districts namely Musanze, Nyanza and Nyaruguru (Ruheru).
