Environmental Protection

Many poor farmers are unable to grow enough food to feed their own families, much less sell for additional income. That’s why we partner with communities to address immediate food needs — but also to grow sustainable food for the future. Our programs aim to improve rural livelihoods through sustainably increasing agricultural production and sales and enhancing food security for the poor. FVA programs target farmers and farmer groups, in rural and youth, women, and other vulnerable populations enabling them to effectively pursue profitable agricultural activities and escape the cycle of poverty by protecting the environment.
Agroecology is increasingly being seen as one approach to support such a sustainable food system transformation within and beyond our women Cooperatives.
